Distributor recognized for technical excellence at EDN China
Innovation Awards
Hong Kong -- Avnet Electronics Marketing China has been chosen as the Engineers' Favorite Distributor in the PRC in the annual EDN China Innovation Awards. The news was announced by EDN China at the awards ceremony in Shenzhen on 18 November.
"Innovation is one of our core values, rooted in our employees' minds and demonstrated in their daily work," said Frederick Fu, regional president, Avnet Electronics Marketing China. "This year marks the first time the publication has organized a specific, 'Engineers' Most Preferred Distributor' award, and we are especially proud to win in its inaugural year."
Already in its fifth year, the Innovation Award focuses on products and technologies favored by China's electronics design engineers. The publication created the new "Engineers' Most Preferred Distributor" award after it identified that technical support from distributors and their cooperation with electronic design engineers is one of the important factors for helping or hindering innovation in electronic applications.
"In order to recognize the electronic component distributors in China which provided high quality and efficient technical support services to system manufacturers in the past year, we are introducing this category for the 2009 awards," said EDN's general manager and publisher, William Zhang.
The winners were selected from a short list compiled by an Innovation Awards committee consisting of industry experts and EDN China's editorial board. The short listed candidates were then voted on online by more than 200,000 engineers working in China.
"It is always an honor to have our performance singled out, particularly in the first 'Engineers' Most Preferred Distributor award' listing. It is all the more rewarding when the recognition praise comes directly from the people on the front line - in this case, the votes by engineers who use our services and appreciate the quality of our technical service and demand creation capabilities," said Victor Koh, regional president, Avnet Memec China.
