ISO 9001 2000 Certification Demonstrates Superior Commitment to Quality
Tempe, Ariz. -- Avnet Computer Marketing Tuesday announced that it has achieved the prestigious ISO 9001 2000 certification in North America from TUV Essen, an accredited registrar for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The certification is an internationally accepted rating for quality management systems. Achievement of the ISO 9001 2000 certification assures customers that the company has met the highest standards for quality processes.
Avnet Computer Marketing consists of two divisions, Avnet Hall-Mark, a value-added distributor, and Avnet Enterprise Solutions, an IT infrastructure architect serving Fortune 1000 companies.
New standards for certification were announced by the ISO in 2000 and replaced the previous standards. ISO 9001 2000 certification is based upon eight quality management principles: customer focused organization, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, systems approach to management, continual improvement, factual approach to decision making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships. The rating represents the most comprehensive level of certification available.
Avnet Computer Marketing is one of only a few organizations in North America that has qualified for the new certification. The company previously announced that the certification had been achieved for its European operations, headquartered in Belgium, and extended to all Avnet Computer Marketing affiliates in Europe.

The recommendation and award of the ISO 9001 2000 certification came at the end of an intense audit that involved employees at multiple levels of the organization. The new ISO 9001 2000 registration standard is focused on requiring companies to link their business processes together, ensuring consistent quality management throughout the organization.
This standard is different from the former certification that reviewed companies from an individual functional standpoint. All ISO certified companies are required to adhere to the new standards prior to the end of 2003 in order to maintain their ISO certification.
